Bio
Henry C. Alphin Jr., MS, has been a part of the Drexel University community for over nine years. Currently, he is a Business Analyst in Drexel's Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT), a Research Affiliate of Drexel University and the Warwick Business School, and a member of the International Virtual Environments Research Group (iVERG). Mr. Alphin's academic research focuses on the intersection of philosophy, economics, and higher education. Mr. Alphin holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Drexel's Bennett S. LeBow College of Business, a Master of Science in Higher Education (MSHE) Research and Administration from Drexel's School of Education, and he is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) student at the Warwick Business School of Warwick University.
Mr. Alphin's research in economics has included the economic impact on Philadelphia higher education by a possible public transportation extension into Northeast Philadelphia, as well as economic analysis of individual institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University and The Apollo Group - the parent company of The University of Phoenix; his research in philosophy includes Berlin's concepts of liberty, the philosophy of economics, the philosophy of higher education, Nietzsche's Ubermensch and posthumanity - including intense analysis of Thus Spoke Zarathustra interpretations, immortality, and the philosophy of death; and his research in higher education includes institutional research and assessment topics, strategic planning analysis, higher education leadership, academic freedom, analysis of California higher education governance, research and sponsored programs administration, accessibility, and development of a conceptualized model of accessibility for disabled higher education students in blended and e-learning environments.
Mr. Alphin serves as a higher education consultant and researcher through ThoroughBred Discovery, his private practice.
